Natian Brewery is throwing a party this Saturday at the Hall! It's their head brewer, Ian's, birthday and we're putting four of their delicious beers on tap - all at a discounted price. $3 drafts from 5PM - 10PM on Saturday, Feb 26th!
We've consistently had Natian on tap since we've opened and they have been consistently one of our best sellers! We can't wait until the spring when they bring back their Honey Red!
DJ SHARP will be capping off the night with an 80's Party immediately following the Natian Party - 9PM to Late! We love back to back parties!!

A Gift
The other day, someone left a package hanging from our front doorknob at the store. It was a collection of records from a Record of the Month Club on Music Appreciation. The outside of the book was a little beat up but inside is the most gorgeous classical vinyl in mint condition!
We haven't been listening to much classical music lately, but I felt compelled to put on some of these records and enjoy the music. The past few mornings have been filled with Haydn, Grieg, Prokofiev, Schumann and Tchaikovsky. I am eternally grateful to the person whom left this great gift. They definitely help start the day off right... as all music should.

NW Cuban
Yesterday, I tried our new sandwich special and this morning I woke up craving another one. Reid really outdid himself this time. It's his Northwest take on a Cuban Sandwich. Turkey, Ham, Melted Swiss, Chili Mayo, Green Apples and a Mint Sauce. It is SOOOOO good.
2/11/11 Update: Just had my fourth one in two days and am still in love with it.

The past few weeks
The past few weeks have gone by so quickly, they're such a blur!! We booked a bunch of special events to help get us through what I thought was going to be a slower winter season. But it turns out this winter hasn't been so bad at all! We have some really great customers that come in on a regular basis and help make our nights much more fun! So doing events on top of that is just the icing on the cake!
The Cambodia fundraiser was absolutely amazing. We were packed to the gills on a random Tuesday night in the winter - I'll take it! We met so many great people and the organizers exceeded their goal of $1,000 to raise almost $1,700! We got some really cool pieces of art for our walls, too!
We booked a private birthday party for Superbowl Sunday, too. It was our friend Fred's birthday and him and his wife, Allison, threw a great party. They live in the neighborhood and invited a lot of their neighbors - so we got to meet even more great people! And Fred was so great, he was like a spokesman for Hall of Records, explaining to every guest that came in what we do and how we have open turntables on Fridays.
The Nervous Breakdown reading night was a really big hit, too! There were about six short story readers with a DJ playing in between stories. It made for a really fun, packed Sunday night! I would love to make it a regular thing at our store!
This coming Saturday we have another Birthday party dance party! Two weeks ago we had a combo Latin Night and three birthday parties and it made for the busiest Saturday we've ever had. I'm looking forward to trying to beat it this week!!
Oh, and Chooselocal.org did a really amazing website for our store! They put up a really cool 360 degree video of what Hall of Records looks like from the inside!

First Thursday!
We are super excited about tonight! We have the pleasure of hosting The Secret Whistle - a duo from Eugene, who play vinyl, make beats and play live instruments. And since it is First Thursday, they're also bringing an artist friend who does live painting! Should make for a great night! It all starts around 8:30/9:00PM!

Portland Loves Cambodia Fundraiser
Tonight we are hosting an event called Portland Loves Cambodia. It's a fundraiser for a Cambodian shelter that helps women forced into sex trafficking. The organizers are hoping to raise $1,000 to buy a moto (van) for the shelter. The money will be raised mostly through a raffle and art sales. We will also be donating 10% of the bar to the cause.
The organizers came in on Sunday to start hanging some of the art for sale. It's really impressive and ties in vinyl, love, Cambodia and the venue (us!). I can't wait to buy one of the pieces of art work made out of vinyl. They even say Hall of Records on them.
