Party Pics

A special thanks to everyone that came out last night!!! I was totally lame about taking pictures and these pics don't do the party any justice but here they are, all the same. Carl (owner of It's a Beautiful Pizza) wants us to do another one soon. We think we might try for a weekend night, though, so people can really let loose :)

Our good friend Tess was so nice to help us with the flyers for our first party. She did a great job!!

It's official!

We're having a record party February 26th at It's a Beautiful Pizza on Belmont. The owner is the nicest, most laid back guy in the entire world and is totally down with it.

Sometimes when people want to go into the restaurant business they start small by selling their food at the farmer's market or something of the kind. Since our main business is creating an "atmosphere" instead of creating food I think this is the perfect start for us. We'll sell and spin records and people can dance and drink beer. Those are the main elements of our business plan anyway, minus the comfy couches and physical bar.

Now I have my work cut out for me because I need to start inventorying all the records and actually setting up Quickbooks, which I have been putting off. I can't wait for the party so we can see what works and what doesn't. I never thought I'd be so excited to "learn."

And on a side note, this whole process has spawned a side business. It turns out I am pretty good at doing business plans and I have started helping other people with theirs. I got my first client last week and finished his plan in 3 days. He was super happy and I got to put some money in my bank account. Thank god.

AND I have been super proactive about finding a mentor and surrounding myself with people that have their own bars/restaurants/etc. A cafe in North Portland has been open for about a year and started blogging about their experiences from when they were first looking for a location. I found so many parallels to what Justin and I are going through (including the fact that they're girlfriend/boyfriend) that I emailed them and we're meeting them next week!!

Super pumped!!
